Doctoral Programme of Information Technology
The doctoral programme of information technology belongs to the Graduate School of Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT GS) and it provides PhD supervision for the research topics of the Department of Information Technology. For more information about the research topics, see the web sites of the laboratories:
To begin with your PhD studies, contact one of the professors whose research topics interest you or contact the laboratory heads. You will be appointed a supervisor (or a potential supervisor) who is one of the professors.
Financing of the PhD studies has several options: a) a candidate has his/her own funding, b) a candidate is selected to work for a research project or c) a candidate is selected to one of the graduate schools of the department. Our department is a member of the following national graduate schools:
- ECSE - East Finland Graduate School in Computer Science and Engineering
- SoSE - Graduate School on Software Systems and Engineering
ECSE is open for the all laboratories and SoSE is mainly for the Software Engineering Laboratory. Discuss about the financing with your supervisor.
The next important step after you have been appointed a supervisor and you or your supervisor has a plan for financing your studies, is to apply for a PhD student position. More information about the formal selection process can be found from here.
