1. To pass the exam.

2. To give a seminar presentation.

   The procedure is as follows:

   1. Make a group of 3-5 students. The presention will be given as a group.
   2. Select the topic and date&time of your presentation and book it from Saku.Kukkonen@lut.fi by Fri Jan 23, 2004 (hard deadline).
   3. Give the presentation satisfying the following requirements (each group can freely decide how to distrubute duties inside the group):
      • The length of the presentation is 30 mins plus 15 min discussion.
      • Make electronic transparencies (PowerPoint recommended) where you show which kind of references you have used (at least one scientific publication needed) and which kind of applications have been built. Deliver transparencies (PowerPoint and pdf versions) to Saku.Kukkonen@lut.fi who will place them at the course pages. No other written report is demanded.
      • Each group must be an opponent to one another group making questions and comments. Please agree among the groups how the matches of presenting groups and opponent groups are allocated. Thus, each group is responsible to agree to which group it is acting as an opponent. Tell Saku.Kukkonen@lut.fi to which group you are acting as an opponent, so Saku will write the name of your group at the lectures web site.

   Each group is evaluated, based on the following criteria:

   • Oral presentation.
   • Transparencies.
   • References.
   • Questions and comments made as an opponent.
   • Overall impression.
   so that each member of a group can get 1-5 additional points to an exam.
