Goals: The goal is to introduce students to the field of machine vision and image analysis and its application areas.
Content: Digital image processing: digital image, image transforms, image enhancement, image compression. Image analysis: segmentation, representation and description, recognition and interpretation. Hardware, software and applications.
Recommended: The course is suitable to Ph.D. students and senior undergraduate students (= kelpaa sekä syventäväksi perusopinnoksi että jatko-opintojaksoksi).

The lectures will be held in Weeks 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 17 only.
"Week" refers to a real week in a calendar, not to a period week.
Exercises: 28 hours.

No exercises in the first week of the 3rd period. After the first week the sessions will be held normally in each period week.
