Project-Based Software Engineering, Project Plan Instructions |
The topics to cover in the project plan in this course project are stated as headings in the standard project plan template. Some of these topics are covered in the project background papers and all of them are discussed and explained in the exercises – if there is need for that. Of course, these topics are standard topics in any software project plan so you can also read about them in most project related books, papers, and articles.
You can either use the Standard Project Plan Template or any custom template for your project plan. Use of the standard template means that you do not modify the provided template but fill in the requested information and the sections in the template. (If you have problems accessing the template, try right clicking the mouse and "Save Link As..." option.)
NEW!!! Here you can find comments to the Standart Project Plan Template and related to grading delails.
Use of custom template means that you have your own/your company’s project plan template available and you use it to document the project plan. In this case you should make sure that you have an explicit reference to the source of that template and that the template actually covers all the topics that are covered in the standard template. Also, if you plan to use your company template make sure that you are allowed to do it!
For an alternative project plan template you could take a look at the IEEE Standard for Project Management Plans, ANSI/IEEE Standard 1058/1998. It is available, for example in IEEE Xplore.
The project plan must be returned printed on paper by Friday 04.10.2002, 12:00 to the room 6731
Additionally, you should send you document readable without any problems with MS-Word 2000 to address k010752000@kurssit.lut.fi during Friday or in advance. The name of the document must be your long student number + first two letters of your last name + first name first letter + “.doc”. For example, my project plan file would be named 0207035SeY.doc.
